EDI-PAC: Putting it Together
- BASIC SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
- IBM or compatible, 286 or higher
- DOS version 4.0 or higher
- Hard disk space 10 MB (varies by volume)
- 4 Meg RAM recommended
- 132 column printer (optional)
- TRANSLATOR
- You require an EDI translator with mapping
capabilities. There are many good translators on
the market to choose from. EDI-PAC works with
any translator that can output a user definable
ASCII file (this means it has mapping
capabilities). The ASCII file layout required by
EDI-PAC for imported and exported files, is
provided in the EDI-PAC manual.
- Recommended translators include Pro_EDI,
Supply Tech, Trading Partner PC, and Quick-EDI.
- VALUE ADDED NETWORK AND MODEM
- A modem, communication software and a Value
Added Network (VAN) is required to communicate
with your trading partners, and access your
network mailbox ID. Some translators include
communication software that is pre-set to
communicate through some VAN's. Your trading
partner may recommend a particular VAN, examples
include AT&T, IBM, GEIS, and Sterling. Check
your VAN or trading partner in case of special
modem requirements.
