Tablet PCs - Are they for you? |
| |
In keeping with our mobile sales force theme, this month we are taking a look at the Tablet PC.
Tablet PCs combine the power of a notebook PC with the simplicity of pen and paper, and is an exciting, new tool for the mobile professional.
With a Tablet PC, mobile workers can access a powerful, versatile computing solution that enhances the role of the traditional notebook PC. A Tablet PC is a fully functional computer running the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition operating system which is built on top of Windows XP Professional, and offers new, advanced handwriting and speech recognition capabilities that let you create, store, and transmit handwritten notes and voice input.
Prices start at about $1500 US.
Some Tablet PC examples are;
Acer TravelMate C102Ti
Compaq Tablet PC TC 1000
Fujitsu Stylistic ST4110 Tablet PC
Motion Computing M1200 Tablet PC
Toshiba Protege 3500 Series
Viewsonic Tablet PC V1100

So if you are a sales representative working in a temporary location or visiting stores, an executive overseeing the operations elsewhere, or a supervisor working on a manufacturing floor—all these people spend many hours a week working in places other than their own desk. From hotels, virtual offices and on-the-road, Tablet PCs are offering a nice, portable alternative (under 3 pounds and can be held in one hand) to the notebook.
These are the perfect solution, when you want more power and greater ease of entry than a PocketPC, without the bulk of a notebook.
