Demystifying Wireless Technology |
| |
Wireless is becoming a major player in the industry as devices allow you to do your e-mail, real-time access to databases, and communicate cost effectively.
If you are considering this technology, here is a brief overview of the technologies you will need to evaluate;
Infrared - PDAs and computer keyboards are examples. This has a limited operating range, require line-of-site contact, and is used primarily for synchronizing peripheral devices.
Bluetooth - fast becoming a global standard, this can operate in ranges of 10 metres and doesn't require line-of-site. You can send your printing to another room without the mess of cables and connectivity.
802.11 - standard the governs wireless networks within the 2.4 GHz spectrum, and 1 - 2 Mbps. Over time, improvements have been developed with 802.11a, 802.11b, and the now 802.11g.
802.11g - Provides transfer rates as high as 54 Mbps, and is backwards compatible, with a smooth migration path extending the life of old equipment.
Some things to consider when selecting a wireless technology;
Line-of-site requirements
Applications and equipment that need to be connected
Potential sources of interference or disruption

AOC 2003 - Thanks Everyone! |

The AOC held May 3-6th in Vancouver was an enormous success. That family feeling, with dedicated dealers made the training and events memory filled. A scavenger hunt through the streets of Vancouver had us singing, wearing togas, and taking pictures of unusual attractions. Our focus this year was RemoteDesk Tradeshow, and RemoteDesk installation step-by-step.
We covered:
How to receive orders from branch offices, sales reps, PocketPCs, customers, web sites, tradeshows, warehouses and more
How to present a "one-stop", seamless solution that integrates the many functions of an office
PocketPC introduction, printing bar codes, scanning, and synchronizing
Web site requirements for B2C eCommerce
Point-of-sale (POS) power and operation
Whether you attended or not, contact us when you need help putting together quotes to satisfy ALL remote sourced order scenarios for your clients. We'll help you to maximize your profits and get the sales rolling.
