    Thank you for taking the time to learn about Bravo-HRS!

    Included in this evaluation guide are the following notes to help you load your evaluation disk and give you an overview of Bravo-HRS. You then can see for yourself why this has quickly become the most popular HR system integrating with ACCPAC Plus.

    What is Bravo-HRS?

    Bravo-HRS is a complete personnel and attendance information system. It provides people and job management, with detailed employee database reporting. It maintains unlimited history of employee details such as attendance, vacation, reviews, positions, employee equity, skills, training courses and much more. There are a variety of features in the product that provide ways for you to better manage your most important asset, people. It is an invaluable employee databank, which can be run stand-alone or integrated with Canadian or U.S. Payroll.

    Your evaluation copy of Bravo-HRS contains a sample company with 9 employees already set up for you. This allows you to review all the functions in the system. Run Bravo-HRS as you read over the guide. Please note you are not able to create data with the demo disk.

    Evaluation System Requirements:

    The minimum you need to operate Bravo-HRS is:
     ACCPAC Plus Windowing System Manager Version 6.1 or higher
     A DOS based 286 micro-computer with at least 640K of memory

    Installing Your Evaluation Copy:

    Once your Windowing System Manager is installed, install Bravo-HRS as follows:
    1. Run your ACCPAC system by typing PLUS at your C: prompt.
    2. When the Start List appears press F3 to call up the System Manager.
    3. Cursor down to INSTALL PROGRAMS.
    4. Insert the Bravo-HRS evaluation disk into drive A: and press RETURN to begin the installation.
    5. Once the installation is complete press ESCAPE until you have returned to the Windowing System Manager Start List. Your start list should now have Bravo-HRS Sample Data as an option.

    Starting Bravo-HRS:

    1. Highlight "Bravo-HRS Sample Data" on your start list and press return. The title screen is the first screen you see. It will prompt you for:
    a. The date of your work session (defaults to today) For the sample data, enter March 1, 1996, then press Return.
    Select "Accept" to continue.
    b. An "Operator ID". This is an identification which validates who is allowed into the system, and then carries their ID into the menu options they access.
    This provides an audit trail that tracks who was in the system, and what menu options they affected, for added security.
    (sample data does not include any operator ID's)

    After a moment the Bravo-HRS Master Menu appears.

    A Few Important Features To Look At....

    Here is a quick overview of several important features. Let the guide lead the way, or explore on your own the many features that interest you most.

    1. User Definable Setup

    Bravo-HRS keeps an extensive employee information profile record. There is a permanent and unlimited history of transfers, promotions, pay history, attendance, reviews and staff development.

    From the Main Menu choose #5 "Housekeeping"
    then select #1 "Edit Company Profile".

    Select NEXT or EDIT to review all the defaults which have been setup. This will help you to understand where information originated as you go through the system. The Organizational Categories are user definable, as is the Employee Checklist titles, Union Agreement methods, Employee Skills, Red Flag Events, Date Processing ranges, Attendance Frequency, Holidays and Employee Equity Codes.

    After you have completed that option, select each of the housekeeping menu options to get an idea of the vast flexibility.

    2. Extensive Employee Information

    Bravo-HRS keeps an extensive employee information profile record. There is a permanent and unlimited history of transfers, promotions, pay history, attendance, reviews and staff development.

    From the Main Menu choose #1 "Employee Maintenance"
    then select #2 "Modify/Delete Employee Profile".

    When the screen appears, a "fat cursor" is in the Employee number field. A "fat cursor" in a field indicates you can use the FINDER to choose from a list. Press F5 or the down arrow, to invoke the FINDER. It will display a list of the sample data employees. Highlight one of the employees by using the up or down keys and press return. Choose the option "Modify" and move through the employee profile screens using the "Command Boxes" at the bottom of the screen to make your selections.

    Continue through the rest of the screens in the profile record and peruse through the remaining employee maintenance menu options to see the vast amount of information and reporting you can do.

    Reminder: Use the F5 Key (or down arrow) "FINDER", to display available data in a field. Cursor through a list and make your selection easily by pressing return.

    To PRINT a report of any of these functions, select; From the Main Menu choose #4 "Reports" ,
    then select "Employee Profile Reports", and choose each option.

    3. Corporate Organizational Chart

    Bravo-HRS lets you define an organizational chart for your company with complete flexibility. All employee positions in the company, both permanent and temporary are part of the structure. The employee positions have budgeted salary levels and can be assigned a union code if required. Each position is approved so that special reports can be created for seasonal overflow, temporary assignments or positions not filled.

    From the Main menu choose #2 "Inquiries"
    then select #3 "Organizational chart".

    The program displays the organizational structure in our sample data company. The structure and the codes are completely definable. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to scroll through the chart. Press ENTER on any record to see more details on the screen. Press ESCAPE to return back to the scroll box. Notice the permanent and temporary employees assigned to the positions. Press ESCAPE to take you back to the menu.

    4. Attendance Tracking

    Bravo-HRS keeps attendance for salary and hourly staff, recording days/hours worked, absent, sick, seniority, leave, job/project details and allows you to allocate these to multiple departments. Salaried/Hourly attendance automatically updates the employees, you only need to access these functions to record exceptions, such as sick days or overtime hours. The accruals section displays such information as seniority, sick leave and vacation status.

    From the Main menu choose #3 "Attendance Processing",
    then select #1 "Add/modify Salaried Attendance"
    or #2 "Add/modify Hourly Attendance"

    There are reports to show attendance over the year or for selected periods.
    From the Main menu, choose #4 "Reports"
    select #3 "Attendance and Seniority Reports"
    then take a moment to look at each of the available reports.

    5. Date Sensitive Red Flags or "Sticky Notes"

    Bravo-HRS allows you to set and report on special or critical events per employee. "Red Flag Event" examples include scheduled vacation, an upcoming interview, maternity leave or a course schedule. There are eight definable categories of events that can occur on specific dates, each providing for multiple event descriptions. You select a date range and the program will display all employees and their events during that period. The attendance functions take these events and automatically updates them in the employee's attendance file.

    From the Main menu choose #3 "Attendance Processing"
    then select #3 "Review Red Flag Events"
    Enter a date range from: 03/01/96 to 10/01/96 (return)
    Choose Red Flags from the Command Box at the bottom of the screen.

    6. Employee Skills Reporting

    Bravo-HRS allows you to keep individual employee skills on their master records. Skill keywords are entered on their record to keep special information such as designations, training or certificates. A skills report provides searches of the database to present those employees that satisfy the query.

    From the Main menu choose #4 "Reports"
    select #2 "Exception and Analysis Reports"
    then select #5 "Employee Skills Analysis"

    Select EDIT, and at the skills prompt enter WPM. This will select all employees who have recorded typing skills and their words per minute.

    7. Employee Accruals and Benefits

    Bravo-HRS lets you define employee benefits such as medical plans and accruals such as vacation or accumulated sick days on the employee record. The accruals on the employee record tracks previous year balance, YTD accumulation, as well as time taken off for each one. Each accrual definition has up to 10 different formulas for unique calculations. These different calculations can be set depending on where the employee is working. For example, each position in the organization may pertain to a different union position or agreement.

    From the Main menu choose #4 "Reports"
    select #2 "Exception and Analysis Reports"
    then select # 4 "Accruals Analysis"

    8. Employment Equity and Equal Opportunity

    Bravo-HRS lets you type or classify jobs within your company. You can report on jobs, salary ranges and the employment counts. An equity code is set for each employee to conform to Employment Equity or Equal Opportunity Government Reporting.

    From the Main menu choose #4 "Reports"
    select #2 "Exception and Analysis Reports"
    then select #8 "Employment Equity"

    9. Days Worked by Position

    Bravo-HRS lets you record employee days worked at various positions in the company. An employee has one permanent position and any number of temporary assignments. When employee attendance is recorded, time can be allocated to multiple departments or positions.

    From the Main menu choose #4 "Reports"
    select # 2 "Exception and Analysis Reports"
    then select # 2 "Days worked report"

    Then take a moment to look at each of the available reports.

    10. Import and Export on Master Records

    Bravo-HRS provides access to your employee data for interfacing with external systems or other payroll systems.

    11. Interface to Canadian or U.S. Payroll

    An option on the Bravo-HRS Housekeeping menu, Retrieve Employees from Payroll is added. This function reads either U.S. or Canadian Payroll employee master records for updating to and from Bravo-HRS. This feature allows you to add employees or update employees in the Bravo-HRS system and transfer it to your payroll database without any re-keying. (This feature is not included in your evaluation copy.)
